Following recent changes to our Advanced Search, all other EBSCOhost databases will soon receive a new look. This includes PsycInfo, CINAHL, MEDLINE, FSTA, International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance, SPORTDiscus and others. The new user interface brings improved accessibility features, an updated appearance and some additional functionality.
The update will take place on August 5th. You can explore and use the new interface now.
What are the main changes?
The new interface has a Dashboard area which contains your saved resources. Login to MyEBSCO to access and organise searches and results. This feature replaces Folders and Custom Folders on the existing site (if you have custom folders read the What do I need to do? section).
Other new features include:
- A more simplified layout for more streamlined access to resources. Once you've located a title the "Access options" button will help you get to it.
- Quick filters under the search box so you can refine your search from the results page.
- A concept map to help you link ideas, discover keywords, and build searches.
What do I need to do?
If you already have a MyEBSCO account and have any saved resources or searches you may need to migrate your saved data. For more information please visit our FAQ.
- Make sure you are using your University of Lincoln details to log in to your MyEBSCO account. You may need to merge your accounts first - find out how in our FAQ.
- Any saved searches and resources from "My Folder" in the existing interface will then be transferred automatically once you have logged into your MyEBSCO account in the new interface. There may be a time delay of up to a week before they appear.
- If you have any "Custom Folders" in the existing interface you will need to move the data across. We recommend:
- in the new interface use the dedicated download your data option to generate an Excel file of your entire search history (download available until December 31st).
- then in the existing interface transfer any saved results or searches from your custom folders to "My Folder" before August 5th . This way they will be transferred over automatically (though not the custom folder structure).
- If you have any saved "Search alerts" you will need to set these up again in the new interface.
Where I can find more information?
EBSCO has a range of help resources about the new interface, including a Quick Start guide and overview video of the changes.
Where can I get more help?
While we expect the changes to be intuitive, we are available for any support or questions you may have during the migration. Please contact us if you have any questions about the process or the new interface.
