We have created a Family Friendly Study Room in the library to support our staff and students who are parents/carers and need a space to study with their child(ren). This will be available at specific times throughout the term so please check our Events calendar so see when it is running. Please book your place for the day you want to use the room via the registration form on the event page.

You can ask at the Enquiries Desk to borrow our Junior Activity Packs, which include colouring, fidget toys, and puzzle games, or from a selection of books/toys, to help keep your child busy while you study.

While the room does not contain any computers, you can make use of the books and printers in the library and you can either bring your own device or borrow a laptop to use (for more information, see our FAQ - How do I borrow a laptop?).

Please note that children must be supervised at all times, and you must accept our terms and conditions before using the room.

Family Friendly Study Room – Terms and Conditions

By booking the Family Friendly Study Room, I understand and agree -

  • that I am fully responsible for my child(ren) and will not leave them unattended in the library at any time, even for short periods of time to use the toilet or fetch resources
  • that I will supervise my child(ren) with the Junior Activity Packs as they may contain small parts and be a choking hazard. I understand these packs are designed with ages 3+ in mind
  • that I will supervise my child(ren) around the stairs and lifts, as the stairs have metal edges and the bannisters/barriers/ledges near the stairs and UL110 are quite low and have wide tops and must not be climbed on/leant over, and lifts must not be played with
  • that I will leave the room in the state that I found it and will return any toys and activity packs to the Library Desk
