Laptops can be borrowed for 3 hours. They are stored in the Lapsafe cabinets in the following locations:

  • University Library ground floor (48 in total)
  • David Chiddick Building Global Lounge (48 in total)
  • Minerva Building second floor Learning Lounge (24 in total)

You will need your student id card to borrow a laptop.

To use the Lapsafe, press borrow on the screen and scan your library card. The Lapsafe will indicate in which cabinet a laptop is available and you are required to scan your card again in the relevant cabinet.

Please return your laptop to Lapsafe and ensure the power cable is plugged in securely. Fines are charged at 25p per hour or part of the hour for late returns.

The laptop will automatically connect to the library wi-fi network and you are required to log on with your usual username and password.

If you close the laptop lid the machine will log off and power down.

A printable information sheet is attached.
