In order to preserve confidentiality, you should withhold:

  • Trust/hospital name
  • Place of publication - if the document is published by an NHS Trust
  • Publisher - if the document is published by an NHS Trust
  • URL

Therefore, we would recommend following this guidance when using the Harvard style to reference either a document about an NHS Trust (produced by the Care Quality Commission for example) or produced by an NHS Trust itself:

In-text citation

(Care Quality Commission, 2018) for the whole document

(Care Quality Commission, 2018, 2) for a specific page within the document

(Care Quality Commission, 2018, 2-6) for a range of pages within the document

Or

(NHS Trust, 2018) for the whole document

(NHS Trust, 2018, 23) for a specific page within the document

(NHS Trust, 2018, 23-25) for a range of pages within the document

Reference list

Care Quality Commission (2018) Title of document withheld to preserve confidentiality. London: Care Quality Commission

NHS Trust (2018) Provisional accident and emergency quality indicators.
