Associate Reader Policy and Application

Terms and conditions

Associate members are bound by our Terms and Conditions:

Associate membership does not include access to services such as inter-library loans, computing facilities or electronic resources. Guest Wi-Fi access is available to use with your own device.
Members must be aged 18 or over.
Relevant ID must be provided before your application is processed.
Replacement cards cost £10.

At busy times of the year, particularly around exam time, we may suspend the associate reader application process and restrict use of our libraries by associate readers and visitors to prioritise student access to study space and resources.

Types of membership

Alumni Membership (free of charge) - this entitles the user to borrow up to six items for a period of either one week or four weeks, dependent on the loan status of the book. Should the book be in high demand, there is the possibility that it may be recalled at any time. Please therefore ensure that you check your e-mails regularly.

A passport sized photograph, photo ID, proof of address (within the last six months) and a copy of your graduation certificate are required
Membership will be for three years

Sconul Access (free of charge) Initial applications must be completed via SCONUL. Once you have received email confirmation of your Sconul application please complete the following form.

Important: Not all libraries are participating in the Sconul scheme - please check before applying.

Thank you for applying to become an Associate Reader. Your application may take up to 1 week to process.

We will contact you by email once your application has been processed, and if it is approved, we will ask you to come to the library to collect your card. If payment is required, this will be taken on collection of your library card.
